June, September and early October give the most reliable combination of settled weather and quieter anchorages; July and August are hottest and busiest, with the meltemi at its strongest through the Bodrum–Datça channel. Göcek's own gulf, ringed by mountains, stays noticeably calmer than the open Aegean even at the height of the wind.
