When's the best time to charter Naples, Ischia and the Pontine Islands?

May to September is the working season; July–August brings the fleet and books out Stabia, Ischia and Ponza first. The Procida–Ponza crossing is open water, so a settled forecast matters more here than on the sheltered stretches either side of it.

Marina di Stabia and the adjoining Stabia Main Port, in Castellammare di Stabia, between them take vessels up to 200 metres LOA (length overall) and hold the coast's only dedicated refit yard. Ischia, Procida, Ponza and Palmarola have no superyacht berths — it's anchor-and-tender territory beyond Stabia.

Naples (NAP), with FBO handling via Universal Aviation and Argos VIP and a road transfer of around 20–25 minutes to Marina di Stabia. It also serves as the practical hub for Ponza and Gaeta, neither of which has an airport of its own.

Roughly 50 nautical miles from Procida — the one proper open-water leg on this route, and worth timing around the forecast. Palmarola itself is a further short hop west of Ponza's harbour, around 5–6nm.

Since 2024, all transiting vessels pay a per-metre entry ticket, roughly €2–3 per metre depending on the month, between June and September, settled through the MyPonza app; residents, property owners and licensed operators are exempt.
